Whatever the reason, it’s not enough that it solved a problem or filled a hole. If you want to make an impression on your audience, you must inspire. You can inspire through design and through your ingenuity.

Look at Elon Musk’s Tesla. Not only did it satisfy a niche group of environmentally conscious millennials and upper crust environment supporters, but it did it with sophisticated style both inside and out. Now, look at other famous brands. Windows inspired generations with its ability to give everyone knowledge at their fingertips, changing the world forever. Wonder Woman inspired girls to be superheroes.

Even the United States of America when it was first conceived marketed itself on the ideal image of a country where every person can have the freedom to make their own destiny without being hampered by societal tyranny. Why do you think so many people still immigrate to the United States to pursue the American Dream? It’s because that is how we advertised ourselves

So, turn your company into the new Tesla or American Dream. Create something that will not only make life easier but create an inspired life for your audience.

The climate debate spans every corner of the globe and business. Entertainment, politics, and science have all talked circles around the subject. However, no matter which side of the debate you are on, it is obvious that environmentally conscious, “sustainable” marketing is a trend that makes a statement.

Look at some of the most revolutionary brands today. Tesla has made a name in clean energy with their stylish electric cars. Forever 21 gives coupons to customers who bring in old clothes the company can recycle into new clothes. Even Vistaprint, the online business card designer, offers recycled paper as an option.

Need some ideas about how you can create a “sustainable” marketing campaign.

Here are four ways that you can start incorporating environmental inspiration into your marketing.

  1. Start Seeing Green:Environmental consciousness can be as easy as adding greenery to your office space or to into your product videos. This not only adds a fresh feeling to your aesthetic, but plants also help purify the air around you. Plus, it shows your audience that you can grow something amazing. (Yes, that was a pun.)
  2. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle: You remember that phrase from school when your science teacher taught recycling? Finding creative ways to not only reduce your carbon footprint or the waste that your company creates. If you’re a fashion designer, go “Project Runway” with an unconventional material. Technology company? Develop something that runs on alternative energy! If you are just a small financial firm, then maybe you can switch to recycled paper. A little can go a long way.
  3. Give Back to Your Planet: Volunteer opportunities are a great way to connect to your community, make the connections to expand your business, and do good for your planet. Help clean your local park. Start a community garden. Sponsor a street to keep free of litter.
  4. Better Together: There are many small, startup companies and nonprofits that have a drive to creating a better planet. If your company is not one of them, then work with them! Partnering with these types of businesses can help them flourish, but also create inspiring opportunities for your company to do something fantastic.

These are a few ways that you can start doing good in your community and creating a sustainable climate. Trust me when I say your planet and your audience will be thankful that you took a stand.

IN-Spiration: Remembering the Legacy of Elie Wiesel

My last class with Elie Wiesel.

If you follow us on Facebook or Instagram, then you might have seen our post about Dr. Elie Wiesel on Sunday, which is also our In-spiration quote of the day today.

   “Think Higher, Feel Deeper”

The reason this is one of my favorite quotes of all time is that it encourages humanity to learn and that, in learning, we may become better human beings.

This is a concept that I hold near and dear to my heart. I have always believed that in education, learning about different cultures and ideas, we might become closer to each other as human beings.  We may understand each other and not see one another as different creatures but as the species.

Elie Wiesel dedicated his life to education both as a teacher and a student. He never felt like he had learned enough, understood enough about humanity and the world we call home. Up until his death last year, he was constantly trying to expand his mind.

This is a lesson that I hold close to my heart especially after taking his course at Eckerd College twice. Hearing his words and soaking in his presence was inspiring.

Which brings me to the second quote.

Yes, I said SECOND! You get two today!

               “We are all witnesses.”

We are each a witness to each other’s stories. Everyone wants to feel as if their story will not only be heard but that it will also be remembered. It is Memory that ensures our influence on the future and is proof that our life was impactful.

Elie Wiesel made it his life’s mission to serve as a witness for the people who suffered and lost their lives in the Holocaust through his book “Night.” We are each a witness to the suffering around the world.

 

That is why learning how to tell your story, your business’s story, and acknowledging the story of your audience is imperative. If we intend to leave a mark, we must first recognize the mark that every person has on our Earth.

IN-spiration Challenge: Dare to Step Out of Your Comfort Zone

We did it! The first week of Write Mind Media’s blog is all wrapped up.

Was it stressful? Yes.

Were there moments where I wondered what I was doing? Of course.

Were there technical difficulties? YEP!

However, here we are. We made it, but the end of the week can mean only one thing…. Our first In-Spiration Challenge!

This weekend, we want you to take this inspiration a step further. We want you to take a step out of your comfort zone and DARE. The most successful people in history are the ones who dared to be uncomfortable and struggle because they knew that their vision would be worth it in the end.

Talk to someone you don’t know. Start some crazy new business venture. It could even be as simple as taking a left instead of a right on your way to work. Just have fun with it.

In-Spire Yourself: Dare to Do What is Hard, Not What is Easy

Today’s IN-Spiration comes from one of the most beloved presidents of US history when he dared our country to think bigger. It also happens to be one of my favorite quotes from an American president.

“We choose to go to the moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard…”

John F. Kennedy

This quote helped jumpstart American exploration of space and, eventually, inspired men to walk on the face of the moon.  This was a feat that now human had ever fathomed before and instigated a new generation of dreamers.

However, that is not why this is my favorite quotes.

The reason I love this quote is because simply reading it dares you to do better, be better. Every successful brand or entrepreneur in history faced adversity. They struggled to convince others that their ideas were worth something…, but they continued to persist.

No worth-wild idea is easy. If It was then everyone would have a successful brand. The point of doing something hard is to give that idea worth.

Let me say that again…the struggle is what gives your idea worth. It can face the trenches and come out alive. It can push through boundaries no one has ever broken.

Today, so many people expect life to be easy. Maybe it’s because our parents make us think that we’re special by giving us participation trophies. Perhaps it’s the instant gratification we experience with social media and online shopping. We have expected things to be easy.

We’re are challenging you to struggle. Go on a road trip without a map or a plan. Start a new marketing campaign with only the faintest of ideas. Jump out of the plane without the parachute.

Okay, don’t literally do that last one, but you get the idea.

Choose to go to the moon and do the other things. They WILL be hard, but who said making history was ever easy?

Inspired Trends: Minimalism Mean Less is More

It’s Thursday which means today we are focusing on trends in marketing, design, and brands. Today we’re going to focus on…minimalism.

You might have noticed that our website possesses a rather simple, sparse design similar to brands like Apple.  That is because we are following the minimalist design trend that is sweeping the world.

You can spy minimalist influences everywhere from logos to Ikea furniture to the growing tiny house movement. Everyone, particularly millennials, is drawn to this design because of its elegant simplicity and clean imagery.

What is Minimalist Design?

A minimalist design can be identified by its straight, clean lines, single-shade color balance, and a play with space. In incorporates a lot of whites and blacks with hints of colors such as rich greens, bold reds, and glimmering golds. It lends itself to natural elements that pop and make the design come alive.

These designs are easy to navigate and don’t require a lot of flash to be eye catching. It’s simplicity also allows designers the opportunity to find new ways to be creative with interesting texts or accent pieces.

Minimalist Design and Minimalist Lifestyle

Minimalist design finds inspiration in the minimalist lifestyle. The lifestyle believes that one can live a more fulfilling life by having fewer possessions. Instead of spending money on materialistic things, you have more money to spend on experiences such as travel or hanging out with your loved ones.

Perhaps that is what is so attractive about minimalist design. The empty spaces hint at the idea that there is something more behind the product. For example, your product on a crisp, white background not only has it front and center, but the simplicity of the image suggests that there doesn’t need to be anything. Your product is THAT good. It speaks for itself.

So, next time you are designing your marketing campaign or developing your logo, keep this trend in the back of your mind. With its timeless elegance, minimalism does not appear to be going anywhere anytime soon.
